HI, I’M DENISE, a Dutch native who loves to go on adventures around the globe, sip tea while getting sucked into a good book and is always up for inspiring late night conversations. Oh, just make sure to bring Pizza!!
After graduating in Hotel Management in 2009, I was lucky enough to get a job travelling the world with the Semester at Seas program. In case you haven’t heard of it yet, check out their program (https://www.semesteratsea.org/). If you can financially, I highly recommend a semester on this floating university.
I worked for the crewing agency, onboard the MV Explorer, on and off for about 6 years. Starting as a receptionist and slowly working my way up to a First Purser HR position, stripes and all, while sailing around our beautiful planet, twice!
Since two years now I rent my own cozy apartment in the center of Rotterdam, the city I grew up in, and work a 9 to 5 job as a system coordinator for a bungalow park.
I can tell you it has not been easy going back to this routine life after constantly being on the move for so long. I’m still searching for the perfect job that checks all the boxes, if that job even exists, so for now I just use this time to save some money to be able the do the things I love and spend time with my wonderful family and friends as much as I can.
On this little corner of the World Wide Web I like to share and document my adventures around this big scary world, in the city that I call my home and the ones I find between the pages of the books I read.
Take a look around and let me know what you think.
